Quadrathon – An Epic 4 Marathon Event
A Unique opportunity to participate in Donegal’s first ever 4 Marathon in 4 Days event. The course winds along the Inishowen 100 scenic drive, amazing scenery with something to distract you at every turn and summit. Unfortunitely for the runners you really don’t get good scenery in Donegal without a few hill. There is at least 1 notable climb in each of the first 3 days but the 4th days course is reasonably flat so you could have had a good time on that one if it hadn't been for your body being nackered at this stage.
There are a multi choice of issues, stay in the same accomodation or move on each day, transfers to or from the races etc. Extreme North will be there to help, guide and assist on all matters depending on the individual preferance so just keep in touch with updates and keep sending on your concerns / queries. Everything will be sorted so you can relax into the challenge, if thats possible.
All 4 Marathons qualify for the 100 Marathon Club in Ireland and UK.

Extreme North Goal is to ensure that all their events are "True value for money" we have trimmed rates and hope/need a reasonable level of entry to counteract same. EXtreme North have also canvassing accommodation providers to do likewise for competitors and spectators alike. So please keep us informed if you feel that you are not being looked after properly.
If you have “Taken it to the Limits” at a previous extreme North Event then maybe this is your next goal.
Extreme North are delighted to receive your comments and suggestions for improving the legistics, accomodation, team makeup or any other aspect that you feel might be a beneficial addition to the Quadrathon or any of our events.
The Course
The Quadrathon has been designed mainly along the inishowen 100 scenic route with some deviation to area’s that we feel have something special to offer in either challenge or scenery. Each of the first 3 days will have 1 main challenging climb and each race will have full backup and support for all competitors.
Marathon day 1 – Kinnego Bay Marathon
Starting in Moville, marathoners will have an easy 5 mile on the banks of the Foyle, passing Greencastle along golf lings to Shroove before encountering the first reasonable 1m ascent. Then another 2 easy mile before taking on the toughest climb of the day, a 250m climb over 2k as you make your way towards Kinego Bay. Take in lots of fresh air and beautiful scenery as you make your way to the summit. A long decent sees you passing the beautiful Kinego Bay of Spanish Armada fame (13.0), just short of the relay switch over. A tough 1.5k climb signals the end of enduring climbs for the day so you can relax into the marathon as you tramp through the rolling scenic coastal route of Tremone, Ballyharry, onto the beautiful village of Culdaff and onto the finish line at Malin town.
Marathon day 2 – Malin Head Marathon
Start line will be a few mile north on Malin town where you will wind your way towards Malin head and Bamba’s crown the most Northerly point of Ireland. The most enduring climb of the day will be after that as you work your way up “knockamanny bends” summiting with a beautiful view of Lag beach and a very welcome decent towards Lag (relay switch over) and back towards Malin town. No major surprises on the remainder of the course as you make your way towards the finish line at Ballyliffin.
Marathon day 3 – Mamore Marathon
Starting in Ballyliffin and heading back on Fridays course for 1 mile then turn into the beautiful rolling landscape of the Isle of Doagh, passing the Famous Famine Village and onto stone / gravel path and running alongside pollan beach for 2k. Exiting the beach you will commence a 1.5k climb. The next 12k is mostly a flat coastal scenic route before embarking on todays endurance climb of 250m over 2k over Mamore Gap. This will sap your energy but when you have reached the summit the remainder is going to feel like all downhill as you wind your way towards Buncrans and the finish line at the Inishowen Gateway hotel at the far side of the town.
Marathon day 4 – Muff Marathon
The final day and you will be glad to know that the terraine isn't as hairy as the previous 3 days, Relatively flat so you might just be able to shave a few minutes off your best time. No enduring climbs but you will still need sheer determination to complete today and put distance between yourself and those who talk about extreme adventure. Turning left at bridgend through birdstown and a sharp left as you enter Muff will see you on the final leg of the race as you head straight for Moville with the beautiful scenery of Lough Foyle on your right and lots of wonderful memories behind you. The Finish line at Moville will signal the end of one hell of a challenge and the well deserved title of Extreme Challenger.
